What Does a Complete Engine Gasket Set Do?

An engine gasket set provides the essential sealing components required between critical engine parts during assembly.

Its primary functions include:

  • Sealing the combustion chambers.
  • Maintaining engine compression.
  • Preventing oil leaks.
  • Preventing coolant leaks.
  • Separating coolant and oil galleries.
  • Maintaining correct engine operating pressures.
  • Restoring original engine sealing performance.

Replacing every gasket during an engine rebuild ensures each sealing surface performs exactly as Porsche intended.

Why Replace the Complete Gasket Set?

Engine gaskets are compressed during installation and should never be reused once the engine has been dismantled. Fitting a complete gasket set ensures every sealing component is renewed, reducing the likelihood of future leaks and improving long-term engine reliability.

A complete gasket set is recommended when carrying out:

  • Complete engine rebuilds.
  • Cylinder head replacement.
  • Engine reconditioning.
  • Major oil leak repairs.
  • Coolant leak repairs.
  • High mileage engine refurbishment.
  • Preventative maintenance.

Manufactured to OE specifications for fit, material quality and durability, this comprehensive gasket set contains the essential gaskets and seals required to prevent oil, coolant and compression leaks while maintaining optimum engine performance and long-term reliability.

Fits:
  • Porsche Boxster 987 S 3.2/3.4L 2005-08/08
  • Porsche Cayman S 3.4L 987C 2005-08

Manufactured from premium-quality composite gasket materials, high-temperature elastomers and precision-engineered sealing components, the kit is designed to withstand extreme engine temperatures, high combustion pressures and continual exposure to engine oil and coolant. Precision-cut for direct OE-style installation, each gasket provides an accurate fit to ensure dependable sealing across critical engine assemblies, making the kit ideal for professional engine rebuilds and preventative maintenance.

What This Product Does:
  • Provides reliable sealing between critical engine components.
  • Prevents oil, coolant and combustion gas leaks.
  • Maintains correct engine compression and efficiency.
  • Supports proper lubrication and cooling system operation.
  • Protects the engine from contamination and fluid loss.
  • Restores factory sealing performance during engine repairs.
  • Supplies essential gaskets for comprehensive engine servicing.
  • Forms an integral part of the engine sealing system.

Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
  • Engine oil leaks.
  • Coolant leaks.
  • Loss of engine compression.
  • Engine overheating caused by coolant loss.
  • White exhaust smoke indicating coolant entering the combustion chamber.
  • Oil and coolant contamination.
  • Reduced engine performance.
  • Increased engine oil consumption.
  • Visible gasket deterioration during engine servicing.
  • Persistent fluid leaks following engine disassembly.

Why Replacement Matters:

  • Engine gaskets are subjected to constant thermal cycling, high internal pressures and prolonged exposure to oil, coolant and combustion gases. Over time, gasket materials naturally compress, harden or deteriorate, reducing their ability to maintain an effective seal between engine components.
  • Failing gaskets can lead to fluid leaks, loss of compression, overheating and contamination of vital engine systems. Continued operation with damaged gaskets can accelerate engine wear and result in expensive repairs. During any major engine repair or rebuild, replacing all sealing components is essential to ensure reliable long-term performance and avoid repeat labour.
  • Replacing worn gaskets with the OE Match Engine Gasket Set restores the engine's sealing integrity and helps maintain reliable operation throughout the entire engine assembly. Manufactured to OE standards using premium sealing materials, the 999100M9721::1 kit provides factory-style fitment, long-lasting durability and dependable performance, making it the ideal solution for Porsche engine rebuilds, servicing and restoration projects.

Product Information
Product Information
Hylomar Gasket 3400 is a modified anaerobic curing, flexible sealant designed to become a Formed in Place (FIP) Gasket when cured. The cured compound has good temperature resistance and high resistance to fretting. The cure is initiated when the compound is in contact with metal ions and in anaerobic conditions. The cure rate and final strength is dependent on the metals being joined and the temperature at which the component is used. The heat generated by a running engine will accelerate the cure.

Typical Applications
Hylomar Gasket 3400 can be used as a gasketing compound between machined surfaces. It is ideal for sealing between mating faces on engines and transmission components where resistance to temperature and vibration are essential.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Hylomar Gasket 3400 should be applied to clean and dry surfaces, free of contamination such as oil or grease. The compound may be dispensed by hand from cartridge, concertina pack, or via a screen printing system. Once applied the joint should be assembled as soon as practical. Any excess compound can be easily wiped off external surfaces with a clean cloth soaked in Acetone or other suitable solvents.

About Gaskets & Sets

Engine Gaskets & Gasket Sets – Precision Sealing for Porsche Engines

Engine gaskets are vital components that ensure your Porsche’s engine operates efficiently and leak-free. Positioned between key engine surfaces such as the cylinder head, intake manifold, and oil pan, gaskets maintain a perfect seal against high temperatures, pressures, and fluids.

At Design911, we offer a comprehensive range of engine gaskets, seals, and complete gasket kits for Porsche models of every generation. Each gasket is crafted from high-quality composite, metal, or elastomer materials to withstand the extreme conditions of high-performance engines — ensuring optimal sealing, reduced oil and coolant leaks, and consistent compression.

Whether you’re rebuilding a classic 911 flat-six or servicing a modern turbocharged Porsche engine, our manufacturer-quality gaskets and complete kits guarantee reliability, performance, and peace of mind.

What Do Engine Gaskets and Gasket Sets Do?

Gaskets play a critical role in ensuring that various engine systems — combustion, lubrication, and cooling — remain properly sealed.

Core Functions:

  • Prevent leaks of oil, coolant, air, and combustion gases.
  • Maintain compression between the engine block and cylinder head.
  • Ensure efficient combustion and proper engine pressure balance.
  • Protect internal components from cross-contamination of fluids.

A properly sealed engine not only improves performance and efficiency but also prevents costly long-term damage.

Why Do Gaskets Fail?

Despite their durability, gaskets naturally degrade over time due to extreme heat cycles, pressure variations, and material fatigue.

Common Causes of Gasket Failure Include:

  • Overheating, causing warping or breakdown of the gasket material.
  • Improper installation or torqueing during assembly.
  • Aging materials that harden or crack with use.
  • Chemical degradation from oil or coolant exposure.
  • Uneven pressure or engine vibration, leading to micro-leaks.

Typical symptoms of gasket failure include oil or coolant leaks, reduced compression, overheating, or visible residue at gasket joints.
